Don’t Move Without Him

Not by might nor by power, but by My Spirit,” says the LORD of hosts.

— Zechariah 4:6 (NKJV)

Aloha Kingdom Family,

The Lord spoke this to me this week:

“This is your Scripture for the week.”

It was Zechariah 4:6. So I sat with the Scripture and read the entire chapter to understand the context. As I prayed and meditated on it, the Lord began to show me something:

We can become so accustomed to doing life that we forget we have a Savior.

Ouch.

We can move through our days making decisions, solving problems, and completing our assignments without ever stopping to ask:

“Father, what do You think?”

Sometimes we become so familiar with doing things our way that we forget to check in with the One who knows the way better than we do.

Are You Asking God for His Input?

Proverbs 3:5–6 says:

“Trust in the LORD with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths.”

— Proverbs 3:5–6 (NKJV)

When we acknowledge God, we are saying, “Father, I need You.”

Not only in the big decisions, but in the ordinary details of our lives.

Zechariah 4:6 reminded me that what God has called us to do is not accomplished by our own might or power, but by His Spirit.

That includes the enormous assignment and the ordinary task.

Moving to another state? Ask Him.

Starting a ministry? Ask Him.

Making a major decision? Ask Him.

Even doing a load of laundry? Ask Him.

I know that sounds funny, but I’m serious.

God cares about the details of your life.

When we invite Him into our decisions, He may show us a better way, a more effective way, or a way that saves us unnecessary time, energy, and frustration.

It begins with surrender:

“Father, what do You think?”

Daddy God Wants to Advise You

My husband would probably hate for me to tell you this, but he absolutely loves when our children come to him for advice.

He loves knowing they value his opinion. He loves that they trust him enough to ask. And he loves the relationship that makes those conversations possible.

Your Heavenly Father wants that with you, too.

He wants you to come to Him with your questions, your decisions, your plans, and your circumstances.

You don’t have to figure everything out on your own.

Come to Him.

Acknowledge Him.

Listen for His wisdom.

You are not called to steward your assignment in your own strength.

It’s not by might.

It’s not by power.

It’s by His Spirit.

REFLECTION:

What area of my life have I been handling without seeking God’s input?

What decision do I need to surrender to Him?

Where is God inviting me to slow down and acknowledge Him before I move forward?

PRAYER

Father,

Forgive me for the times I have moved ahead without asking You what You think. Teach me to acknowledge You in all my ways and to depend on Your Spirit rather than my own understanding.

I surrender my plans, decisions, responsibilities, and future to You.

Daddy God, I want Your wisdom, Your direction, and Your heart. Show me Your way, even in the smallest details of my life.

I trust You to direct my path.

In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
