Mary Elam is an intercessor, preacher, teacher, prophetic voice, lover of Jesus, lover of God’s people, an author, and entrepreneur. For over 20 years, she has traveled the globe with her husband, Ricky (Retired Army CSM), serving in various capacities in ministry. From Okinawa, Japan to Fort Drum, New York, she has touched the lives of many by sharing the good news of the gospel and allowing the love of Jesus to shine through her. Her love has always been to encourage and equip women to know their identity in Christ through study of the Word, Prayer and Fasting, as well as Worship and Praise.
Mary lives to “Seek ye first the kingdom.” She and her husband of over 30 years now reside in Hawaii. She is the mother of four adult children and grandmother of six.

When there is hunger and desperation for more of God pressing into a closer walk with Him is what is necessary. Just as the woman with the issue of blood pressed into the crowd to receive from Jesus, Mary Elam had a desire to know God more and share this knowledge and wisdom to others. Through, teaching, guiding others through the journey of prayer and fasting as well as writing books inspired by God, Mary gave birth to Touching His Hem Ministries. Through this ministry women are encouraged and empowered to encounter Jesus and receive all that He has for them.

My Supernatural Encounter
In August 2021, I participated in the 21 Days of Prayer and Fasting with Mary Elam. Biblical fasting was not something new to me. I had been doing this spiritual exercise for years. During this fast, however, I was in hot pursuit of a supernatural encounter, that I have never had. I wanted to experience God and the supernatural things of God in a new, refreshing way. My expectation level was on one hundred. As I was praying, fasting, reading, asking, seeking, and knocking, I felt a strong, overpowering sense of God’s presence around me. At my usual bedtime, which is usually 9 pm, I drifted off into a deep, peaceful sleep after reading a couple of passages of scripture. Around the 3 am hour, I woke up to a gentle breeze over my face. God allowed me to hear angels talking in a low whisper at the foot of my bed. (Talk about supernatural). I literally felt the tangible angelic presence in my room that morning and continued to feel it many days afterwards. This time of ministry with Mary blessed me beyond measure. I’ve learned that fasting facilitates the answers to our prayers. Prayer and Fasting are POWERFUL tools that the Lord gives us to achieve breakthrough in stubborn areas of our lives. God has used Mary’s ministry to teach me how to lay all of the unnecessary baggage (fear, disappointments, bitterness, unforgiveness) at His feet and go deeper spiritually with Him. I am forever grateful.

I have done two 21-day fasts with Mary Elan in 2021 and 2022. Both were amazing and healing. Mary has a love for the Lord that is contagious. She gives her heart and soul during the fasts. Mary provides encouragement and affirmation to help individuals complete their fast and obtain victory. I learned that fasting is God’s secret weapon against the enemy. Jesus even said some things can only be cast out except by praying and fasting. It is a super weapon. It takes walls down. I experienced heart healing during one of Mary’s 21 day fast; I had woken up for 3 years with this pain in my heart it was almost debilitating. I could feel during the fast a slow healing in my heart. One morning I woke up and messaged Mary my heart does not hurt. She was excited as I was. I really felt God’s Love and goodness through Mary’s teaching and Gods healing.

Before the fast I was believing God for many things. A salary increase was one of my major prayer requests because my responsibilities increased but my salary was still the same. Shortly after the fast ended God supernaturally allowed me to have favor and supernatural increase. A back story to this, this was a job I was let go from because the previous administration did not like me. Unfortunately, God removed them all and gave me double for my trouble.
