Get Comfortable Being Uncomfortable

There are moments in our walk with the Lord when He begins to stretch us beyond what feels familiar, safe, or comfortable. Many times, we have prayed for this very thing without fully realizing what it would require.

We have asked for more of Him.

More of His presence.

More of His power.

More of His anointing.

More of His assignment.

But “more of Him” will always require less of us.

When God prepares you for your next assignment, He begins a stretching process. It may feel uncomfortable because He is expanding your capacity. Old mindsets must fall away. Fleshly reactions must die. Pride must surrender. What once felt easy may now require deeper dependence on Him.

Stretching seasons often look like surrender.

You may find the Lord inviting you into deeper humility, asking you to lay down your own understanding, your timing, or your preferences. You may feel Him drawing you into longer moments of prayer, quieter spaces of listening, and deeper places of intimacy with His heart.

This is not punishment.

This is preparation.

The Lord is shaping you for what you asked Him for.

The uncomfortable places are often where the greatest transformation happens. Just like a muscle grows through resistance, your spirit grows through surrender. As the flesh decreases, His Spirit increases in you.

So if things feel tight, unfamiliar, or stretching right now, take heart. God is not trying to break you. He is expanding you.

He is preparing you for your next assignment.

Instead of resisting the stretch, lean into it. Let humility have its perfect work. Allow intimacy with Him to deepen. Welcome the process of dying to the flesh so that Christ may live more fully through you.

The stretch is evidence that God heard your prayer for more.

And He is answering it.

Reflective Questions

1. Where might God be stretching you right now that feels uncomfortable?

2. What area of your flesh is the Lord asking you to surrender so He can increase in you?

3. How can you intentionally pursue deeper intimacy with God in this season?

Prayer

Father, I thank You that You hear my prayers and that You are faithful to prepare me for every assignment You give. Even when the stretching feels uncomfortable, help me to trust Your process. Teach me to die to my flesh and walk in humility before You. Draw me into deeper intimacy with Your heart so that my life reflects more of You and less of me. Strengthen me in this season and enlarge my capacity to carry what You are releasing. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
