How Well Do You Know Him?

This question came to me this week: Do I really know Jesus? Do I know His thoughts? Do I know His heart?

How heartbreaking it would be to walk through the trials, battles, and hardships of this life only to hear those words from Jesus: “Depart from Me, I never knew you.”

That scripture stopped me in my tracks.

There is a difference between knowing about Jesus and truly knowing Him.

In this season, I believe many of us need to pause and ask ourselves if we have become more focused on doing for God than being with God. We can serve in ministry, attend church faithfully, pray for others, and stay busy with Kingdom assignments, yet neglect intimacy with the One who called us.

Jesus never said, “Depart from Me, I never knew your ministry.”

He never said, “I never knew your gifts.” He said, “I never knew you.”

God desires more than our works. He desires our hearts.

He longs for communion, not just contribution. Relationship, not performance. Presence, not perfection.

True intimacy is cultivated in the secret place. It is built in the quiet moments of sitting with Him, meditating on His Word, worshipping when no one is watching, surrendering daily, and allowing Him to transform us from the inside out.

Many seek God’s hand, but few seek His face.

I believe the Father is calling His sons and daughters back to first love. Back to the secret place. Back to abiding in Him.

John 15 reminds us that apart from Him, we can do nothing. Lasting fruit is born through connection. Transformation comes through intimacy.

Don’t allow ministry, busyness, pain, distractions, or even blessings to take the place of time spent with Jesus.

He is not looking for perfection.

He is looking for surrender.

He is looking for relationship.

Today, ask yourself:

• Do I truly know Him?

• Do I recognize His voice?

• Do I spend time with Him outside of my needs and requests?

• Is intimacy with Jesus my priority?

My prayer is that we would be a people who are not only serving Him but truly know Him and are known by Him.

Prayer

Father, draw me deeper into intimacy with You. Remove every distraction, idol, and religious mindset that keeps me from truly knowing You. Teach me to abide in Your presence and desire Your heart above everything else. I do not want to simply know about You. I want to know You deeply and personally. Let my life flow from relationship and not performance. In Jesus’ name, amen.
