Push Past Your Flesh and Receive Your Promise

I have been praying and asking God for more of Him, more of His presence, more encounters, more depth.
On yesterday, I was a tour guide here on the island. We went to multiple locations, and by the end of the day, my body was completely spent. I was tired… physically drained. But I had already given God my “yes” to attend a church service that night.
My flesh said, “Stay home.”
But my spirit said, “Go.”
I told God, “I’m going,” because I knew this was connected to what I had been praying for.
When I walked into the church, there were only a few people, but they were pressing in. Worship was already going forth. Flags were waving. Shofars were being blown. The atmosphere was set.
I made a decision right there. I will praise Him in spite of how I feel.
And as I began to worship, I felt the tangible presence of God.
Then the guest speaker began to preach, and I knew immediately I was in the right place. He was teaching out of Genesis. The very scripture I had noticed in my reading earlier that week. God had already gone before me.
Soon after, he began to prophesy. He called me forward and began to release the Word of the Lord over my life. I hit the floor under the power of God.
As I lay there, the Holy Spirit spoke so clearly:
“Mary, this is the answer to your prayer. Just receive.”
I tried to get up, but I heard again,
“No… stay here and receive.”
In that moment, I understood—this was what I had been asking for.
Had I listened to my flesh and stayed home because I was tired, I would have missed my blessing.
Your flesh will always try to talk you out of what God is calling you into. But your “yes” will position you for encounter.
Push past how you feel.
Push past the resistance.
Your answer is waiting on the other side of obedience.
Reflective Questions:
Where has my flesh been trying to talk me out of obedience?
What has God already asked me to do that I’ve been delaying?
Am I willing to push past discomfort to receive what I’ve been praying for?
What does my “yes” to God require in this season?
Have I been asking God for more, but resisting the process to receive it?
Prayer:
Father, I thank You that You hear my prayers and respond with intention and love. Strengthen me to say “yes” even when my flesh is tired. Teach me to push past comfort and step into obedience. I don’t want to miss what You have for me because of how I feel. Help me to discern Your voice, follow Your leading, and remain in position to receive. I surrender my will, my emotions, and my limitations to You. Fill me with more of Your presence. I receive all that You have for me. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
