Rest and Reset

My missions trip to New Zealand was absolutely incredible. God moved in such a powerful way over 74 souls gave their lives to Jesus. I was on assignment, and the glory of the Lord met us there. Yet even in the midst of that victory, the sudden loss of my brother still lingered quietly in my heart. Add a few other pressing weights on top of that, and I could feel something shifting in my spirit. I knew the Shepherd was calling me closer. It was time to slow down, breathe, and spend more intentional time in the presence of God.

Because no one refreshes you, resets you, or restores you like Him.

David reminds us that the Shepherd Himself makes us lie down. Not to punish us. Not because we’re weak. But because He knows when the pace of life has pulled too much from the soul. Green pastures nourish. Still waters bring peace. And in this season, I needed both, His presence to walk me through the weight of November, His stillness to help me process the grief, the questions, and the emotional layers I carried.

Do you know when you need to step back from everything? What does your current pace look like? Are you truly resting in Him or simply pushing through to get to the next thing?

For me, I’ve been giving God my daily time. but there are moments when MOREis required. More surrender. More quiet. More space for Him to minister to the places that have been carrying so much. More time beside His still waters so the reset can actually take place.

Rest is not weakness. Rest is alignment. Resetting is not giving up; it’s giving God room to renew what life has drained. The Shepherd knows the assignments ahead, and He refuses to let you walk into them on empty.

Today, let Him lead you. Let Him settle your heart. Let Him restore your soul. There is a reset waiting for you in His presence.

Reflection Questions

1. Where is God inviting me to pause and receive His rest?

2. What emotions or burdens am I carrying that I haven’t processed with Him yet?

3. What does “more time with God” look like in this season?

Prayer

Lord, You are my Shepherd. Lead me into Your rest. Quiet my heart, restore my soul, and reset every place that has been stretched thin. Heal what I’ve carried, renew my strength, and prepare me for what’s ahead. I surrender my pace to You. Amen.
