Scripture: “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love Him, who have been called according to His purpose.” — Romans 8:28 (NIV)
This past week has been one of the hardest of my life. My brother passed away suddenly, and the loss has been painful and unexpected. There are moments when I sit in silence, still trying to make sense of it.
Grief has a way of stopping time. It makes everything else seem small and distant. Yet even in the middle of this storm, I’ve felt the quiet whisper of the Holy Spirit reminding me: “Stay focused on the assignment.”
Next week, I’ll be traveling to New Zealand . A trip God placed on my heart months ago. Before I ever said yes, He already knew what would unfold in my family. He knew the ache that would come, but He also knew there was Kingdom work that needed to be done.
If I’m honest, my heart feels torn. One part wants to stay near my loved ones, to grieve and comfort. The other part knows that obedience doesn’t pause when life hurts. Obedience is often birthed in pain . It’s what produces purpose.
I’m learning that staying focused on the assignment doesn’t mean ignoring my emotions; it means entrusting them to God while walking in what He’s called me to do. It’s saying, “Lord, I don’t understand everything right now, but I trust You with it all.”
Just as Jesus stayed focused on His mission even when His heart was heavy in Gethsemane, we too are called to walk in surrender. He knew that obedience would bring redemption, not only for Himself, but for all of us.
So today, I choose to keep my eyes on Jesus. To walk forward, even through tears. To believe that He is working all things, even this, for good.
If you’re facing your own moment of pain or loss, and it feels hard to keep moving, let this truth settle deep within your spirit:
God’s purpose is still intact.
His grace is still sufficient.
And your assignment still matters.
Reflection
What has God asked you to do that feels difficult in this season?
How can you surrender your emotions to Him and still walk in obedience?
What does staying focused look like for you today?
Prayer
Father, thank You for being near to the brokenhearted. Even when my heart is heavy, I choose to trust Your plan. Strengthen me to walk in obedience, even when it’s hard to see the full picture. Help me to stay focused on the assignment You’ve placed before me, knowing that You will bring beauty from the ashes. In Jesus’ Name, amen.
Blessings and Love ❤️
