Trusting God’s Purpose in Every Season

There are seasons when God is gentle… and seasons when He stretches us beyond what feels familiar or comfortable. Ecclesiastes 3:11 reminds us that every season, especially the ones we don’t understand, has divine intention. God is not random. He is always on time, even when the process feels slow, awkward, or unsettling.

I heard the Lord say, “Get comfortable being uncomfortable, Mary.”

This is a season of stretching, uncertainty, and increase.

Sometimes we pray bold prayers, “Lord, give me more. Use me. Expand me.” And then God answers… but the answer doesn’t arrive wrapped in ease. It arrives wrapped in stretching. The very thing we asked for begins to challenge us so deeply that we find ourselves asking, “Why did I pray for this?”

The truth is this: the more requires more.

We want more of God, but it requires less of us.

That means pruning.

That means cutting away.

That means vulnerability.

That means sitting in the uncomfortableness, yes, that’s a word today.

There are seasons where God doesn’t rush us out of the tension. Instead, He invites us to endure, to trust, and to remain. The uncomfortable place becomes holy ground because it’s there that our self-reliance is stripped away and our dependence on Him is deepened.

God is making everything beautiful in its time, even this stretch. Even this waiting. Even this pruning. Eternity is being formed in you right now, whether you can see the full picture or not.

Reflective Questions

• What season am I currently in and how am I responding to it?

• Have I asked God for “more,” and am I willing to embrace the stretching that comes with it?

• What might God be pruning in my life so that greater fruit can grow?

• Where is God inviting me to trust Him, even when I don’t understand the process?

Prayer

Father God,

I surrender every season of my life into Your hands. Help me trust You when the stretching feels uncomfortable and the path feels uncertain. Give me grace to endure the pruning, wisdom to recognize Your work, and faith to believe that You are making everything beautiful in its time. Teach me to want more of You, even when it requires less of me. I choose to trust You in this season. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
