Let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart.— Galatians 6:9 (NKJV)
Have you ever felt like giving up on your prodigal?
Standing in the gap for someone you love isn’t easy. You’re praying faithfully, yet they continue to reject you, speak hurtful words, or make choices that seem to pull them even deeper into darkness. Every bad report can feel like another blow to your heart.
Sometimes it feels as though your prayers are hitting the ceiling. You grow weary, discouraged, and wonder if anything is changing at all. You may even feel like throwing in the towel because the pain has become almost too much to bear.
But can I encourage you today?
God ain’t done. Yes, I said it. He ain’t done!
While you are praying and surrendering your loved one into God’s hands, He is working behind the scenes in ways you cannot yet see. Heaven has not stopped moving on their behalf. God is pursuing them with His love, His mercy, and His truth.
There are more fighting for your prodigal than against them. The Holy Spirit is drawing them. Angels are ministering according to God’s purposes. The Word you have prayed has not returned void.
So don’t lay down your sword.
Keep praying.
Keep believing.
Keep declaring God’s promises.
Keep standing.
The same God who began the work knows exactly how to finish it. Your prodigal’s story is not over, and neither is God’s faithfulness.
Reflective Questions:
What circumstance has tempted you to lose hope for your prodigal?
Have you fully surrendered your loved one to God, or are you carrying a burden He never asked you to bear?
Which promise from God’s Word can you stand on today instead of focusing on what you see?
What is one practical way you can continue to fight in faith this week through prayer, worship, or declaring Scripture?
Prayer:
Father, thank You that You never give up on those we love. Strengthen every weary heart today. Renew our hope and remind us that You are always working, even when we cannot see it. We surrender our prodigals into Your hands and trust You to complete the good work You have begun. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
