Go Deeper!!! What does that even mean? When you think about going deeper in the natural sense, you may think of someone swimming. They were possibly in the shallow end of the pool, maybe 3 feet or 4 feet. However, now they are going into the deep end, the 6 feet end of the pool. They have decided to go DEEPER.
When I was in high school, I almost drowned. Can I say this? I was really dumb. Yup.. I said it. Let me explain. I had NEVER swam before, but it looked easy. How hard could it be? I was at a senior pool party and guess what? I just dived in there. Into the 6 foot end of the pool and I sunk right to the bottom. I could have lost my life, but God!!!
He saw fit to have a fellow classmate, I will call him Tony, jump in and rescue me. After that incident, I had a fear of water. Pools, beaches, you name it, I was afraid. Fear had crept in and I would not even go close to water unless someone was right there with me or I was wearing a life jacket. Even with a life jacket, there was a fear and uneasiness.
Guess what? That one incident held me back from so many experiences. Why? One word, FEAR.
In 2018, God said enough Mary, it is time to face this fear and go deeper. I faced my fear and took swimming lessons. Now that which had a grip on me no longer does. Praise the Lord.
Many of you are facing situations in your life and God is saying today, face the fear and GO DEEPER!!!
What is that fear over you? Fear of the unknown. Fear of rejection. Fear of failure. Fear of success. What is keeping you from going deeper or to your next level?
Did you know that Fear Not (or something similar) is the most frequently given command in the Bible? However, many were afraid and yet God used them.
Moses was afraid to speak on behalf God and the Hebrews to Pharoah.
Gideon was afraid to be used of God to fight against the Midianite army.
Go in the strength you have and save Israel out of Midian’s hand,” Gideon responded, saying, “Pardon me, my lord, but how can I save Israel? My clan is the weakest in Manasseh, and I am the least in my family” (Judges 6:14-15)
Why is it when God calls us to go deeper or for the next level we pick out everything about ourselves that in our eyes does not measure up?
Can I help someone today? The Lord already knows your weaknesses, faults, and shortcomings. He sees all that and He still says I want to use you for my glory.
Elijah, after destroying the 400 prophets of Baal ran and hid because Jezebel threatened him.
The disciples of Jesus were afraid after Jesus' crucifixion.
All were afraid of people, and yet God was able to get the victory in spite of their fear.
He is calling many of you to go deeper in Him. More time in His presence just being still before Him. Allowing Him to speak to you and prepare you for your next. Don't allow fear to trap you, block you or stop you. It's time to go deeper.
Prayer~Father we honor and extol you because you are the Great I AM!!! You know us Father. You chose us before the foundation of the world. Lord, you are calling us to you. You see us and yet you desire to use us for your glory. We are humbled Father. Give us the courage and the hunger for more of you. We will not allow fear to stop us. We will press in for the deeper things of you. Fear is destroyed by fire In the Name of Jesus. We give you all glory, honor and praise In Jesus Mighty Name. Amen.
